Ask This When Choosing Graduation Invitations

Whether you're finishing up high school, college or graduate school, graduation is a major milestone in your life and you should share it with your friends and family. The best way to let your loved ones know that you are graduating is to send out graduation invitations. These invitations let your friends and family know where you're graduating from and, of course, when the ceremony is. When receiving your graduation invitation, your loved ones can feel as if they share in your experience, and they'll appreciate the invite even if they're unable to attend. Similar to choosing wedding invitations, choosing and sending the right graduation invitations is important. Ask the following questions when shopping for graduation invitations to find the cards that send the right message about your big day.

Who should get graduation invitations?
Graduation invitations should be sent to those who matter the most. Also, a graduation invitation does imply asking for a gift. With this in mind, you don't want to send one to just anybody. Close family such as your grandparents, uncles and aunts, and cousins should be the first to receive the graduation invitation. Beyond that you can also consider close family friends that may wan to share this moment with you.
How many many people should get graduation party invitations?
The amount of people you invite to your actual graduation ceremony is typically dictated by your academic institution. The reason for this is simple, most graduation ceremonies will provide only a certain amount of seating per graduating student. If your ceremony is indoors, this limit is finite and you will be strictly limited in the amount of people you invite. If your venue is outdoors you will most likely be able to invite as many people as  you like, but can't guarantee that they will get a seat to the ceremony proper.
Where can I find do it yourself graduation invitation templates?
If you don't want to be limited to the stock graduation cards in a print shop and instead want to put a little more personal touch to your invitations you may want to look for custom templates. Most word processing programs will come with standard announcement templates that allow you to add your own text, pictures, and colors so you can truly make your announcement unique and stand out. Print shops will also be very willing to work with you to design a custom graduation announcement card that reflects your unique personality.
What information should I include in my graduation announcements?
The information included on your graduation card will depend on who you are sending it to. If you are just alerting the recipient to the even but don't wish to invite them to the ceremony should not include information about the ceremony. If however you do wish to invite the recipient to the ceremony you should include not only venue information but also lodging locations in the area. Regardless, all cards should include the school you are graduating from, the date you are graduating, and of course your chosen degree should it be applicable. Some people also choose to add a few sentences about their future plans and what they wish to do with their degree.
When should I send out my graduation announcement cards?
The timing of when to send out your graduation invitations is very important. The general rule of thumb is that there is that you can't send them out early enough. If you send them too late, there is a chance that those that wish to attend will not have the chance to make room in their plans and will have to be absent. It is usually a good idea to send them out before your last semester or quarter. This will generally give people enough time to plan for a trip to your college.
How much should I expect to pay for cheap graduation invitations?
It not uncommon for families to shell out a few hundred dollars for high quality, custom graduation invitations. But if you do it right you can save a lot of money. By designing your own graduation invitations, or choosing cards with cheaper card stock you can expect to pay around $50 to $70 for around twenty cards.
Where can I get cheap graduation announcements?
If you are really strapped for cash and don't want to spend a lot of money on flashy graduation announcements, there are a few options available to you. Firstly you can choose to buy your cards not from a custom print shop, but from a generic card shop. This option will not provide custom printing, so you will have to add the relevant information on your own. You could also choose to simply email your graduation announcements if cost is really an issue.
