There is no official word just yet on when the new G-Class will be released, but the expectation is that it will hit showrooms sometime in the fall of 2018.
No official pricing has been announced, but experts expect the new G-Class to start at around $120,000, as Mercedes is not likely to lower the price from previous model years.
The 2019 G-Class can go from zero to 60 in just 4.4 seconds and can reach speeds of 137 mph with stock options or up to 149 mph with the optional Driver's package.
The interior has been updated to feel more like a luxury SUV rather than the surprisingly spartan interior from previous model years. Updates include a fully-digital widescreen cockpit and a digital instrument panel that flows into a COMAND central screen, with both measuring in at 12.3-inches wide. A three-spoke steering wheel, updated center console and spindle climate control vents were also added, and elbow and shoulder room has also been increased slightly in the first and second rows, and the rear seat got an impressive 5.9-inch increase in legroom.
While the exterior of the new G-Class still retains its iconic, boxy shape, the front grille and headlights have been updated to give the G-Class a more modern, softer look. The G-Class is now 154 pounds lighter than previous models, as well.
Mercedes has added a new nine-speed automatic transmission paired with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine that outputs a whopping 416 horsepower, and with power being sent to 4WD through the new nine-speed transmission, shifting will be smoother than ever before. Mercedes also added a drive-mode selector, which instantly shifts between several settings - Comfort, Sport, Individual and Eco modes - each of which adjusts the throttle response and transmission shift mapping and revises the steering. The drive-mode selector can optimize the optional Adaptive Damping System for on-road or off-road driving, as well.
It's still to early to know what promotions or incentives will be offered, but stay tuned later this fall when the anticipated release date approaches to learn more about how you can save on buying or leasing a new 2019 G-Class!
