The 2017 BMW 3 Series gets some upgrades for the new model year. First of all, the midlevel trims now get a four-cylinder engine. Next, the 340i trims now get the M Sport options package included. The iDrive infotainment system was upgraded across all trims, and wireless charging and Apple CarPlay integration are now optional for all trim levels.
The new BMW 3 series is available in five trims -- the 320i, 328d, 330i, 330e and 340i. Each trim level has seating for five people and features standard rear-wheel drive.
The 2017 BMW 320i features 17-inch wheels, push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote door locks, premium vinyl upholstery, Bluetooth connectivity, a 6.5-inch display, a nine-speaker audio system and more.
The 330i builds on the 320i's features while adding sporty front seats with power adjustments, paddle shifters, driver seat memory functions, power-folding and heated side mirrors, split-folding rear seats and auto-dimming mirrors.
These trims get different engines, but they're equipped with the same features. Additional perks on the 328d and 330e include a panoramic sunroof, power liftgate, roof rails and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 340i is the pinnacle of the 2017 BMW 3 Series. It gets LED headlights, a sunroof, a 16-speaker premium sound system, keyless ignition and entry and the contents of the optional Premium and M Sport packages.
The new 3 Series has several optional packages. The Premium and Technology packages add on several high-tech comfort and convenience features, while the Driver Assistance packages add the lastest safety features. The Track Handling package is tailored toward drivers who crave performance.
The 320i gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that pumps out 180 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque. The 330i gets a similar four-cylinder engine that generates 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The 328d gets a diesel four-cylinder that makes 180 horsepower, while the 330e uses a combination of a four-cylinder with an electric motor to get 248 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The 340i gets a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine for a whopping 320 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque.
